Factors that help us accomplish our academic goals
A. Skilled and qualified faculty
* Our staff is skilled and qualified as per the NCFTE 2009 notification to help and guide students in any work they are interested in. They have wide-ranging experience in education that goes beyond classroom teaching.
* Our teachers have faith in the students and their capabilities. They have the enthusiasm and energy to actively engage with learners, are open to trying out new ideas and ready to explore the challenges of alternative education. Some of them are competent artists as well.
* We have built up a network of people interested in education who are associated with the school, and frequently visit to participate in conceptual brainstorming and classroom activities. This resource group consists of BElEd graduates and educationists associated with Eklavya, Samavesh and other NGOs and educational institutions.
* The school involves a variety of professionals and resource people to brainstorm and give resource inputs to the students so they can explore different dimensions of their interest areas. The resource areas/fields covered include story-telling, theatre, music, pottery, painting, sculpture, clay modelling, papier mache, indigenous art and other crafts.
B. Infrastructure and facilities
Space: The school infrastructure is specially designed to create space for students to explore freely, undertake activities and display their work. Each student’s ability, interest and security are kept in mind while developing the space. The campus includes a water body, sand pit, compost pit, swings, see-saw, trolley with track (made of used tyres) and various other floor games etc.
Rooms: The thematic rooms are not strictly divided on the basis of subject/discipline but segregate resources to conduct the thematic activities. These resources include a computer (with internet), library and a variety of other materials required for students to undertake their activities. The expert faculty engage with their interests and guide them to explore and use these facilities fully.
C. Additional features and inputs
Field trips/excursions - Field trips under adult supervision are planned to enhance the students’ experiences with nature and the adult world. They are regularly exposed to various institutions around us that work to make the adult world function. Guardians are expected to permit the students to go on these excursions and are also encouraged to join in.
Library - Every thematic room has a library because we see books as a tremendous resource available at all comfort levels. They are an integral part of regular work. Also, reading is a skill that requires a great deal of practice - and you need books to practice.
D. Facilities and amenities
Food: The students are provided food in the afternoon, either prepared in the school or brought from home. Parents have also, on occasion, brought food for all the students attending school.
Transport: The school provides transport facilities from the students’. If opted for, transport fees will be an additional charge.
Dress code: The students can wear clothes of their choice to school. There is no uniform but a school apron is provided to every student.
School bag: The students are given sling-bags in which they can carry their tiffin or materials collected from their surroundings that may be needed for classroom activities or carrying books issued from the library.
